Chong-Kemin Valley

Chong-Kemin Valley (Чоң-Кемин) is one of the most beautiful and least disturbed natural regions in northern Kyrgyzstan. Located in the Kemin District of Chüy Region, it lies about 135 km (or roughly 2–3 hours’ drive) east of the capital Bishkek.

The valley lies between the Kungei Ala-Too and Ili Ala-Too mountain ranges, and transitions gradually from narrow gorges into broad alpine meadows.  The Chong-Kemin river flows through the valley for approximately 116 km before joining the Chu River.

In 1997, the Chong-Kemin National Park / Nature Park was established to protect the region’s ecosystems and facilitate eco-tourism.
