📍 Overview
Altyn Arashan, meaning “Golden Healing Valley”, is one of Kyrgyzstan’s most beautiful alpine destinations, located in the Issyk-Kul region near Karakol. 🛣 How to Get There
Your journey begins in Karakol, about 390 km from Bishkek.

  • To the trailhead:

    • Drive or take a taxi to Ak-Suu village (10–12 km from Karakol).

    • Continue another 12–15 km on a rough road to the gorge entrance.

    • In winter, only strong off-road vehicles (UAZ, GAZ-66) can reach here.

  • From the entrance to Altyn Arashan:

    • On foot: ~14 km hike, 700 m elevation gain, 4–6 hours.

    • On horseback: Horses can be hired in Ak-Suu or Karakol.

    • By 4×4: 1.5–2 hours, very bumpy but possible with proper off-road cars.
